CEM SAĞBİL'S "RESISTANCE" EXHIBITION TOOK ITS PLACE IN KUŞADASI AFTER FRANCE

Kuşadası Ada Modern Art Gallery started to host the exhibition titled "Resistance/From Nature to Mythology" by world-famous sculptor Cem Sağbil. The works of Cem Sağbil, whose universal original works are exhibited in Paris, the capital of France, can be seen at Ada Modern until October 1.

Ada Modern Art Gallery, which has won the appreciation of art lovers with the distinguished exhibitions organized since the day it opened its doors in cooperation with Kuşadası Municipality and Kuşadası Altın Güvercin Culture, Art and Promotion Foundation (KUSAV), is one of the figurative works of world-famous sculptor Cem Sağbil, who reflects mythological stories on sculptures with his own unique artistic language. It started to host the exhibition titled "Resistance/From Nature to Mythology". A cocktail was held at Ada Modern Art Gallery for the opening of the exhibition. Kuşadası Deputy Mayors Oğuzhan Turan and Yusuf Atak, KUSAV President Levent Köylü, Artist Mehtap Meral, Literary and Sociologist Gaye Petek, Sculptors Hakan and Özlem Şengönül and sculptors who will exhibit their works at the 4th International Neopolis Sculpture Symposium attended the cocktail along with many guests.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, KUSAV President Levent Köylü said, “Ada Modern Art Gallery, which was implemented in cooperation with Kuşadası Municipality and KUSAV, brings together a very valuable artist with you today. Cem Sağbil is actually slowly becoming one of us. Dear Cem has added great value to Kuşadası with very valuable works in the last 4 years. I had the chance to visit this exhibition with him in Paris, which he opened in the very beautiful and historical building of the 10th district municipality in Paris, about 2 months ago. After the end of the exhibition in Paris, we moved the works here. A very special exhibition. Both mythology and nature are areas that Cem is particularly interested in. He reflects these on his sculptures and brings them together with art lovers. "He is an artist of whom we are proud both internationally and nationally. It is a great pleasure to be together with him again at Ada Modern Art Gallery with an exhibition," he said.

World-famous sculptor Cem Sağbil stated that he was happy to open an exhibition in Kuşadası again and said, “Kuşadası Municipality and KUSAV are doing a great thing together here. It is a great pleasure for me to come here and open an exhibition every time, because the enthusiasm of both the team and you is truly priceless. Because we feed on it. But I can clearly say that there has been a serious development in Kuşadası, especially in terms of art and music. This is increasing. “I am very pleased with this situation,” he said.

MANIFESTO ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

World-famous sculptor Cem Sağbil, in his manifesto for the exhibition, said, “One of the important characteristics that humans have developed in order to exist is resistance. While this was initially a resistance against nature with the instinct to live, over time it turned into a concept in which people were against each other. Over time, the resistance against nature has come to domination and serious exploitation. Despite all this damage, nature still offers us all our needs and beauty. "No matter where this whole struggle goes, nature will continue, with or without humans," he said.

A HOLISTIC ARTIST WHO COMBINES MYTHOLOGY AND LIFE IN NATURE WITH A DILEMMA

Art writer and curator İbrahim Karaoğlu said in his statement about the exhibition: “Cem Sağbil is a holistic artist who integrates mythology and life, which are the most basic elements of the creation process, with a dilemma through the principle of dialectics and complementarity in nature and the universe. While Sağbil transforms the universal themes of mythology that shape our social memory into visual metaphors in his sculptures; art and mythology intertwine with invisible boundaries. He transforms his dreams into art on a long journey from love to irony in order to increase the power of the feeling of loving and protecting life; Sağbil is a modern alchemist who defends life in an endless way. "His works create tactile sensations and emotional intensity in the audience," he said.
