Kuşadası, which was renewed in every field after Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel took office, started to host species in danger of extinction. Kuşadası beaches, which were not the nesting area of caretta carettas in the past, are now the choice of this special sea turtle for nesting.

Kuşadası Municipality and Ecosystem Protection and Nature Lovers Association (EKODOSD) are taking special precautions for the caretta carettas, who have started to choose Kuşadası beaches as egg-laying areas. In this context, municipal teams, together with EKODOSD volunteers, protected the nesting area of another caretta caretta on Sevgi Beach by surrounding it with a fence. The fry are expected to hatch and reach the sea in approximately 45-60 days.

EKODOSD President Bahattin Driver stated that the coasts of Kuşadası have very suitable conditions for sea turtles to nest and said, “Our city is very rich in terms of marine biodiversity. The Mediterranean monk seal, which is among the 12 rarest mammal species in the world, also lives in Kuşadası. Now, caretta caretta sea turtles have started to build their nests in Kuşadası. "As EKODOSD and Kuşadası Municipality, we are protecting the nests together with Aydın Nature Conservation National Parks Branch Directorate," he said.

Stating that they are very happy that Caretta carettas chose Kuşadası beaches as their spawning grounds, Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel said, “It is very important for us to host these special creatures that are endangered in the world. Of course, these special creatures especially choose clean seas and beaches when making their nests. This is an indication of how accurate the work we have done on our beaches in recent nests has been. "We will continue to be at every point of attraction with our blue flag beaches," he said.
