The ‘Maritime Trade History Exhibition Area’, established by Kuşadası Municipality at the historic Güvercinada Castle—which is on UNESCO’s Tentative List of World Heritage Sites—is attracting significant interest. The exhibition area, which features artefacts spanning a broad period from Roman to Ottoman times, was visited by 17,700 people in the first quarter of 2026.

As part of the aim to become a ‘city of museums’ the ‘Maritime Trade History Exhibition Area’ was opened two years ago in Kuşadası. Located within the Güvercinada Open-Air Museum, the Maritime Trade History Exhibition Area has become one of the must-visit spots for tourists visiting Kuşadası. The exhibition area, which houses various maritime objects, commercial goods used in the historical development of maritime trade, fishing equipment and seals, welcomed 17,700 visitors between January and March, covering the first quarter of the year. The exhibition area experienced its busiest period in March, during the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

 “WE ARE PROUD”

Ersin Serçek, the person responsible for the Museums in Kuşadası Municipal Operations and Affiliates Department, stated that the Maritime Trade History Exhibition Area is one of the most important cultural routes in Kuşadası, adding;

 “We have made some changes to our exhibition area this year. We have changed the floor colours of our display cases to ensure the exhibited works stand out even more. This has become one of the most visited museums in Aydın. As Kuşadası Municipality, we are proud of the Maritime Trade History Exhibition Area”
