Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel continues his legal fight against fake social media accounts that share posts aimed at creating a negative perception with unrealistic accusations about him and the institution he represents. Underlining once again that they are always open to criticism, Mayor Ömer Günel said, "No one should expect us to remain silent against the slanders and insults made about me and my colleagues."

Mayor Ömer Günel filed a criminal complaint with the Kuşadası Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding some fake social media accounts, on the grounds that they committed the crime of publicly disseminating misleading information to the public, in line with the Law on Amending the Press Law and Certain Laws, also known as the 'Regulation on Combating Disinformation'.

Mayor Ömer Günel said, “We are aware that the quality service we have begun to provide to every corner of our city since the day we took office has caused indigestion in some circles. The success we have achieved as Kuşadası Municipality is making these circles lose their sleep. Instead of standing up bravely and criticizing us, these people pretend to be keyboard heroes at their desks through the fake social media accounts they have opened, and they think that they will be camouflaged in this way. No one should expect us to allow this and remain silent. "As in the past, we will not allow any attempt to wear down Kuşadası Municipality, myself and my colleagues through lies, insults and slander, and we will continue our legal struggle," he said.
