Kadı Kalesi Anaia settlement, 8 km away from Kuşadası city center; It was established at a point to control the Samos Strait, which has a very important role in the Aegean maritime trade. Kadı Castle/Anaia Mound has been inhabited for a very long time, from the Prehistoric period to the Ottoman Empire. Pottery findings unearthed during excavations show that the first settlement here dates back to approximately 6000 years ago.

A church-monastery complex, which was first uncovered in 2005 inside the 12th-century castle, shows the importance of Anaia in the Byzantine period with its magnificent dimensions and unique infrastructure. Scientific excavations in Kadı Castle / Anaia Mound have been carried out devotedly by a team from the Department of Art History of Ege University since 2001, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Kuşadası Municipality.
