ANOTHER CULTURAL ROUTE HAS BEEN ADDED TO KUŞADASI WITH THE PORCELAIN DOLL MUSEUM

Continuing its efforts to bring new cultural routes to the city, Kuşadası Municipality opened the Porcelain Doll Museum in the Historical Caravanserai. Speaking at the opening of the museum, Mayor Ömer Günel said, "Kuşadası can be the flagship again in the new tourism era, it deserves it."

Another important step was taken within the scope of Mayor Ömer Günel's "city of museums" project. "Porcelain Doll Museum", established by Kuşadası Municipality in the Historical Caravanserai, opened its doors to its visitors with a ceremony. Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel, deputy mayors, council members, collectors Meral and Öğül Orhan, KUSAV President Levent Köylü and City Council President Mustafa Ünver attended the opening ceremony.

“WE WANT KUŞADASI TO BE A CITY OF BOTH TOURISM AND CULTURE AND ART”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel stated that they are working to increase the visit routes of Kuşadası and said, “We want Kuşadası to be a city of both tourism and culture and art. When we all go to a new city, we think about where we can go first. I knew that Kuşadası, which has 24 ancient cities around it, had very few places to visit, and after I took office, we worked to expand the travel routes in the city. Since then, we have opened Turkey's first fossil and mineral museum in our city. We restored the Çalıkuşu house and turned it into a writer's house. We opened Rose Mary Memorial House and Haluk Perk Coffee House last week. We continue our work to expand cultural routes. Even though the municipality has some opportunities, becoming a collector is the result of a completely different experience. When I first took office, we organized a classic car and ceramic stove exhibition with Meral and Öğül Orhan. When we saw that everyone enjoyed it so much, we tried to increase such visit routes in Kuşadası. We are also working with Haluk Perk, one of Turkey's most important collectors, for the Coin Museum in Kervansasay. We have a few more routes that will be implemented very soon. Thus, Kuşadası will be among the routes of those who want to see valuable collections. I think that art is what will transform society. Kuşadası, as a city that has not managed the profit period of tourism correctly, must start from somewhere and transform. Kuşadası can become the flagship of tourism again. "We would like to thank Meral and Öğül Orhan for sharing their collections with us," he said.

“ÖMER GÜNEL IS A VERY ARTISTIC PRESIDENT”

Collector Öğül Orhan said, “People open places such as schools and hospitals to leave something behind. My wife and I made a request to our President instead, and he did not disappoint us. Mr. Ömer Günel is the most art-loving mayor ever in Kuşadası. There is not enough time right now to explain what President Ömer Günel did. Thank you very much for allowing us to open a permanent museum, thus Kuşadası has gained a new museum. “I hope you like it,” he said.

290 PORCELAIN DOLLS ARE EXHIBITED

In the Porcelain Doll Museum opened in the historical Caravanserai, German and French produced porcelain dolls consisting of 290 pieces collected by collectors Meral and Öğül Orhan over 40 years are exhibited. Porcelain dolls, which were produced mostly between 1800 and 1900 and come in different sizes, attract attention especially with their colorful glass eyes, hair and clothes in line with the fashion of that period.
