Kuşadası Municipality, after fencing off the nesting areas of the caretta caretta species of sea turtles that lay their eggs on 2 beaches in the city, has now placed signs next to them saying 'Let's protect the sea turtles'. Bahattin Driver, President of Ecosystem Protection and Nature Lovers Association (EKODOSD), said, “Sometimes it takes up to 60 days for the chicks to hatch. "Thanks to the signs, they are safer now," he said.

In Kuşadası, last June, two caretta caretta sea turtles landed on Güzelçamlı Şahika Beach and Davutlar Sevgi Beach, where they built a nest and laid their eggs. The nests were fenced and protected by Kuşadası Municipality teams and EKODOSD. Kuşadası Municipality also placed warning signs saying "Let's protect sea turtles" next to the nesting areas of caretta carettas, which are in danger of extinction. The signs also contain various information about the green sea turtle and the loggerhead sea turtle.

'WE ARE WAITING WITH EXCITEMENT'

EKODOSD President Bahattin Driver stated that the cleanliness of the coasts of Kuşadası is very suitable for sea turtles such as caretta caretta and chelonia mydas and mammals such as Mediterranean monk seals and dolphins to live, and said, “The signs erected will make a significant contribution to preventing the caretta nests that come to the beach to nest from being damaged. I would like to thank Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel for being sensitive about this issue. "We are now excitedly waiting for the hatchlings to hatch and reach the sea," he said.
