COASTAL CLEANING IN THE NATURAL WONDER NATIONAL PARK

A coastal cleaning was carried out in the Dilek Peninsula Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, organized in cooperation with the Aydın Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Kuşadası Municipality Cleaning Works Department as part of the June 5 World Environment Day events,

A team of 15 from Aydın Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Provincial Directorate, 14 from Kuşadası Municipality Cleaning Works Department and 10 gendarmerie personnel from Kavaklı Police Station Command participated in the coastal cleaning carried out in the Dilek Peninsula Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, one of the most important natural habitats of Türkiye with the aim of creating awareness on nature and environmental protection. A comprehensive area cleaning was carried out along the coastline with the event starting from İlyas Ağa Bay and continuing to Mersindere Bay. 4 trailers of waste consisting mainly of PET bottles, plastic and glass packaging waste and ghost nets were collected during the cleaning.

The Waste Taxi, which was put into practice by Kuşadası Municipality to facilitate cleaning activities in narrow and steep areas where large waste trucks cannot enter, was also used in the event. Thanks to this special vehicle, waste in hard-to-reach areas was collected quickly and effectively and removed from nature.

The importance of protecting natural areas and carrying them into the future was highlighted during the coastal cleaning, which was attended by Aydın Environment Urbanization and Climate Change Provincial Director Halit Ergin, Deputy Provincial Director Emine Mine Sert and Kuşadası Municipal Cleaning Works Department Head Hakan Bayrak.
