KUŞADASI MUNICIPALITY RAISES AWARENESS ABOUT ZERO WASTE

The Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate established within Kuşadası Municipality, which draws attention with its recycling activities, continues its work without slowing down.

The "Zero Waste Project", led by Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel, who attaches great importance to the protection of nature and the environment, continues with awareness raising activities. Kuşadası Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate employees visit the neighborhoods and inform citizens about recycling and zero waste, while also conducting practical workshops.

Within the scope of the work, Kuşadası Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate first came together with the residents of Kirazlı Neighborhood and organized a Glass Conversion Workshop with the slogan "Don't Throw, Recycle". At the workshop, which attracted the participation of women and children, residents of the neighborhood transformed the waste glass they brought from their homes into decorative objects, using the paint and stamps given to them. At the event, which featured colorful images, Ayşe Özoğul, staff of the Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate, gave information about the importance of zero waste, recycling and waste separation.

Mayor Ömer Günel pointed out that the waste problem, which is increasing day by day, negatively affects not only the environment but also society and individuals, and said, “In the future, livable cities with a high level of welfare will be cities that produce zero waste. As Kuşadası Municipality, we are trying to make our city a place with a high level of welfare with the projects we have developed within the scope of the 'Zero Waste Project'. Every individual has to fulfill their responsibilities regarding recycling. After we recently opened the Waste Collection Center in Davutlar Neighborhood, our teams started zero waste awareness activities for the residents of the neighborhood. "As Kuşadası Municipality, we attach great importance to sustainable recycling efforts and we will continue our work on this issue," he said.
