KUŞADASI'S INSANE OLIVE TREES ARE BENEFITED TO THE ECONOMY

PRESIDENT ÖMER GÜNEL: “WE ARE ALWAYS BY OUR FARMERS”

Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel attended the 'Olive Harvest' event held in Kirazlı District in order to support the project initiated by Yudum Egemdan company and Tohum Association to bring fruitless wild olive trees, known as delice, into the economy and to the use of farmers. Mayor Ömer Günel, who received information about the work from the authorities, said, "As Kuşadası Municipality, we always support our farmers with the practices we have implemented."

Tohum Education Culture and Nature Association and Yudum Egemdan company launched the project 'Introducing Delice Olives to the Economy by Grafting and Supporting Farmers' last year in order to obtain fruit again from wild olive trees called delice. The first leg of the project was carried out in Manisa, and Kuşadası's Kirazlı District was chosen for the second leg. In this context, approximately 2,500 olive trees were grafted in the region. The grafted trees were adopted by the villagers at the 'Olive Harvest' event. Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel also attended the event. Mayor Ömer Günel gave information to the authorities about the support given to local producers by Kuşadası Municipality and good agricultural practices in the city, and also exchanged ideas about the project initiated.

“WE ARE ALSO AN AGRICULTURAL CITY”

Underlining that Kuşadası, in addition to being a tourism city, is also an agricultural city, Mayor Ömer Günel said, “As Kuşadası Municipality, we act with this awareness and support our farmers to develop agricultural production in our city. For this purpose, we opened the Local and Good Agricultural Products Street in Burç Street, Cumhuriyet District, to bring local producers and consumers together without intermediaries. We also implemented the project called Adabahçe in order to improve agricultural production in our city. Kuşadası is a city with very high agricultural potential. "We are always ready to support such projects," he said.
