The sculptures created at the end of the symposium, which will last until October 20, will be presented to art lovers at different points in Kuşadası. Clay workshops for children will also be organized in the following days of the symposium, which made a significant contribution to the transformation of Kuşadası into an open-air museum.

“INTEREST IS INCREASING EVERY YEAR”

Sculptor Hakan Şengönül, one of the curators of the symposium, said that the interest in Kuşadası Neopolis Sculpture Symposium is increasing every year. Stating that 228 sculptors from 40 countries applied to the symposium this year, Şengönül said, “Our sculptors, determined by the jury consisting of our municipality and the symposium committee, will create their works in accordance with the theme of peace and freedom with block marbles coming from Marmara Island in Kuşadası for about a month. "I would like to thank our Mayor Ömer Günel for giving us the opportunity to produce art in a very convenient environment here," he said.

  “WOMEN SHAPES LIFE”

Stating that she is proud to take part in the International Kuşadası Neopolis Sculpture Symposium, sculptor Songül Coşkun said: “I believe that women shape life. If a woman can express herself freely in a society, it means there is freedom in that country. "For this reason, I shape my sculpture based on the female form and the pigeons flying in her hair," he said.

“A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR US”

Tunç Şendağ, who attended the symposium as an assistant from Trakya University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture, said, “Working here is a unique opportunity for us assistants. Because at the symposium, we have the opportunity to be together with artists from different countries of the world and get to know them. "They also provide us with technical equipment and marble blocks to make sculptures," he said.
