MAYOR ÖMER GÜNEL MEETS WITH TOURISM PROFESSIONALS IN BERLIN

Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel visited Berlin, the capital of Germany, to hold a series of contacts and meetings. During his visit, Mayor Ömer Günel met with the Board of Directors of the German Travel Agencies Association (DRV) and made assessments on Kuşadası’s current status in the German tourism market. He also examined the We Tower parking lot project, which offers the opportunity to park many vehicles in a narrow area, on site and received information from the authorities about the details of the project.
Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel, who stands out with his efforts to increase the recognition and brand value of the holiday paradise city in the international tourism market with the investments he has made and the steps he has taken in the field of tourism, continues his diplomatic relations. In this context, Mayor Ömer Günel went to Berlin, the capital of Germany, to meet with tourism professionals, to examine on-site the best practices implemented in the field of local governments and urbanization, and to share experiences.
Meeting with DRV President Norbert Fiebig, DRV Secretary General Andreas Kaden, former German MP of Turkish origin Özcan Mutlu and Turkish-German Employers Association Secretary General and Press Spokesperson Doğan Azman in Berlin, Mayor Ömer Günel made assessments regarding the 2025 summer season and tourism strategies between the two countries. Inviting the association executives to the city for the DRV General Assembly Meeting, which was planned to be held in Kuşadası in 2016 but was cancelled, Mayor Ömer Günel said;
“We will continue to closely follow the work which will ensure Kuşadası is preferred more in the German market.”
Mayor Ömer Günel also examined the We Tower project, a smart urbanism application by a Turkish entrepreneur in Berlin which offers innovative and space-saving solutions for charging and parking electric vehicles in urban areas. Stating that the construction of the We Tower, a green and sustainable project which offers parking and charging facilities for up to 30 vehicles on a 50 square meter floor area, has started as a prototype in Europe and will spread in a short time, Mayor Ömer Günel said that they will continue to follow up so that the model can be implemented in Kuşadası. Underlining that work to bring new parking areas with a capacity of 2,000 vehicles to the city are ongoing, Mayor Ömer Günel said;
“Considering that we host nearly 1.5 million guests during the summer months, it is obvious that Kuşadası’s parking problem will not end. For this reason, we will continue to closely follow such new generation, environmentally friendly and sustainable good practices.”
