MAYOR ÖZLEM ÇERÇİOĞLU AND MAYOR ÖMER GÜNEL: “NO COMPROMISE ON SOCIAL MUNICIPALISM"

Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu and Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel gave information about the services that have been and will be implemented by both municipalities in Kuşadası at the joint press conference they held. Pointing out that municipalities have become institutions fighting poverty due to the economic crisis in Türkiye, Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu and Mayor Ömer Günel underlined that they will not compromise on social municipalism.

Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu and Mayor Ömer Günel met with the Aydın and Kuşadası press at the meeting held in Kuşadası. Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Mayor Ömer Günel drew attention to the importance of meeting with members of the press at regular intervals and informing the public correctly. Stating that they have been working in cooperation with Aydın Metropolitan Municipality since the day he took office, Mayor Ömer Günel said;

 “It is obvious how much this harmony and cooperation has added to Kuşadası. I wish to continue our second service period by continuing to  produce works together with our esteemed Metropolitan Mayor, Özlem Çerçioğlu. I would like to thank our Mayor Özlem for accepting our invitation and being here with us today,"

WE STARTED THE SECOND TERM FAST

Stating that despite all the economic problems experienced, they started their second service period quickly after the 5 years they completed with the desire to do a lot of work in a short time without making excuses, Mayor Ömer Günel said;

 "With the investment of 1 billion 117 million we have made in 5 years we have brought 218 kilometres of road to Kuşadası. This figure is more than 5 times the number of roads built in the previous 10 years. In addition, we built parks and green areas the size of 70 football fields. We have always stood by our fellow citizens with new social support packages and social reinforcement area projects. We did this when the budget from the state did not cover even half of the salaries of the staff.”

Stating that the city will experience a great change with the completion of the ongoing Lütfi Suyolcu City Square and Life Centre, Kuşadası Life, Culture and Sports Centre and Kesedağı Recreation Area projects, Mayor Ömer Günel stated that they will continue to work to move Kuşadası to the place it deserves.

Speaking at the meeting, Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu expressed her satisfaction in meeting members of the press in Kuşadası. Drawing attention to the poverty that deepens day by day, Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu stated that they allocated a serious budget for social aid in the 2025 budget. Stating that the duty of mayors increases day by day with the increase in economic problems, Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu added;

 “CHP mayors are the mayors who do social municipalism best. If you live in Aydın, you will not go to bed hungry and you will not be cold.”

NEW INVESTMENTS ARE ON THE WAY FOR KUŞADASI

Stating that, as Aydın Metropolitan Municipality, they have carried out 499 kilometres of infrastructure work in Kuşadası, Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu said that new investments will start as soon as possible. Noting that the new investments include the 15-kilometer Kuşadası-Güzelçamlı sewer line, the 13-kilometer Bayraklıdede sewer line and the Karaova and Güzelçamlı districts drinking water line, Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu stated that the road investments will continue.
