THE HISTORIC ROMAN BATHHOUSE REGAINS ITS VALUE THROUGH THE DILIGENT WORK OF KUŞADASI MUNICIPALITY

In line with the decisions and cooperation of Kuşadası Municipality and the Aydın Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation Board of the Ministry of Culture, comprehensive cleaning work was carried out around the Roman Bathhouse in Yavansu District, which has survived from the Byzantine period to the present day. As part of the work undertaken to preserve the historical heritage and pass it on to future generations, the surroundings of the bathhouse were meticulously cleaned, while necessary pest-control measures were also carried out around the water source emerging from inside the historic structure and its watercourse.

Continuing its efforts to preserve Kuşadası’s rich historical and cultural heritage and carry important elements of the city’s collective memory into the future, Kuşadası Municipality carried out a comprehensive cleaning operation at the historic Roman Bathhouse in Yavansu. Conducted in accordance with the decisions and cooperation of the Aydın Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation Board of the Ministry of Culture, the work helped give the surroundings of the historic structure a cleaner, more orderly, and healthier appearance.

The cleaning works were meticulously carried out by teams from the Kuşadası Municipality Cleaning Works Department. During the operation, dry grass and plant debris which had accumulated around the historic bathhouse over time were removed. The teams carried out the work without damaging the historic fabric of the structure and improved the surrounding area, helping make the site more visible and accessible to visitors.

SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE HISTORIC WATER SOURCE

One of the most important stages of the work involved cleaning the water source emerging from inside the historic bathhouse and the watercourse formed by it. The water source and its channel were carefully cleaned, and pest-control treatment was carried out to prevent the breeding of flies and other insects.

In this way, a healthier environment was created around the historic site, while potential pest breeding in stagnant water during the summer months, particularly as temperatures rise, was also prevented. The measures taken represent an important step toward maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the surroundings of the historic bathhouse.

CARE FOR THE PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC HERITAGE

Continuing its efforts to preserve the city’s historical and cultural assets and pass them on to future generations, in line with the municipality’s longstanding commitment under the administration of Mayor Ömer Günel, Kuşadası Municipality is also continuing its work to improve the environmental conditions surrounding historic structures.
