VETERAN JOURNALIST AND AUTHOR MUSTAFA BALBAY MEETS READERS IN KUŞADASI
Journalist and author Mustafa Balbay met with his readers at a book-signing event organized by Kuşadası Municipality. Before the event, Balbay also visited the Justice and Solidarity Tent set up in the city centre in support of detained Mayor Ömer Günel. Balbay said;
“Türkiye is going through a difficult and dark period. I hope Mayor Ömer Günel, who has been unjustly removed from office, regains his freedom as soon as possible.”
Known as one of Türkiye’s cultural and artistic hubs, Kuşadası welcomed journalist and author Mustafa Balbay. Balbay, who came to the district to sign his books for readers, was welcomed by Kuşadası Municipality Deputy Mayor Birtan Tütüncü. Before meeting with his readers, the veteran journalist visited the Justice and Solidarity Tent set up at İsmail Cem Peace and Friendship Square in support of detained Mayor Ömer Günel. Balbay then proceeded to Atatürk Square, where he was met with strong interest from his readers.
“WE ARE GOING THROUGH A DIFFICULT AND DARK PERIOD”
Noting that he had visited Kuşadası many times before, Mustafa Balbay said:
“First of all, this is a wonderful city inhabited by enlightened and republican-minded people. Mayor Ömer Günel is an administrator who transformed the face of Kuşadası through the investments he made during his tenure. Türkiye is going through a difficult and dark period. I hope Mayor Ömer Günel, who has been unjustly removed from office, regains his freedom as soon as possible. I went through a similar process myself in the past. The detention of a mayor elected by the will of the people in this manner, without concrete evidence, is contrary to reason and logic, as well as to the law. Kuşadası will stand by its mayor and its democratic will to the very end.”
